Keep teeth healthy with our top tips

1. Choose a small headed medium textured brush or a oscillating electric tooth brush

2. Angle the brush at a 45 degree angle towards the gum line. The plaque hides just under the gums.

3. Do not scrub back and forth, this can cause trauma and causes gum recession which leads to sensitivity to hot/cold. Move the brush in small circular motions.

4. Brush twice a day. Once in the morning and before you go to bed at night. It's best to wait an hour before brushing your teeth is you have eaten/drunk something acidic. As you will brush the soften enamel off.

5. Remember brushing alone only cleans 60% of the tooth's surface. The other surfaces are hidden between the teeth where the brush cannot get to. To clean here use either floss or interdental brushes.

6. Spit out the toothpaste, but don't rinse after brushing as this keep the protective ingredients in the toothpaste in your mouth for longer and helps strengthen the teeth.

Remember it's all about quality not quantity, you can brush your teeth for 15 minutes but you won't necessarily be brushing all the plaque off the teeth!
